JOHAN MATSANDERS
Quality drinks with a focus on the raw material
Good, non-alcoholic drinks produced in Sweden have not always been a given on the market. Many times you have had to settle for water, soda or a non-alcoholic wine with varying levels of taste. That is one of the reasons why Johan Matsanders, the man behind Färna Odlingar, has invested heavily in his premium drinks.
He grew up on a farm and has always had a great interest in making drinks in various forms. Even while growing up, he often made juice and must from the farm's fruit and berries. This laid the foundation for a great interest in growing crops that he now fully lives out with Färna Odlingar.

"Small red rhubarb and blackcurrants are labor-intensive crops. A lot of the work is manual and harvesting is only a small part of the job."

Johan is a teacher by nature, but when the opportunity to start a collaboration with Färna Herrgård arose, it was an easy choice to invest in his old love for drinks of various kinds. On the land around the manor, he grows blackcurrants and rhubarb – two crops that grow well in the local flora, and suitable in liquid form. The result has been two still drinks, four sparkling, a bag-in-box and a mulled wine.
Small red rhubarb and blackcurrants are labor-intensive crops. A lot of the work is manual and harvesting is only a small part of the job. The soil needs to be prepared and the crops need to be planted in straight rows with the right spacing so that you can manage weeds, irrigate, fertilize and finally harvest throughout the season.
The orchard is IP Sigill Fruit & Green certified with an optional climate certification by KIWA.
